Trip highlights

El Picacho in Teotitlán del Valle is a rewarding medium-challenge hike through Oaxaca’s semi-arid highlands, ideal for travelers seeking an active outdoor experience.

The day begins early to avoid the intense midday heat, with a steady ascent starting at 1,700 meters above sea level and climbing approximately 300 meters through rugged terrain, native cacti and dry valley vegetation.

Led by a local community guide alongside our federally certified nature guide, the hike offers insight into the natural landscape and Zapotec traditions of the region.

At the summit, hikers are rewarded with sweeping views over the Tlacolula Valley, a landscape deeply rooted in Zapotec history and culture.
