This medium-challenge hike takes us across sections of rough terrain as we ascend El Picacho, starting at 1,700 meters above sea level with an elevation gain of 300 meters. The reward is an incredible panoramic view of the Tlacolula Valley, surrounded by striking semi-desert flora. We depart early with a 6:30 a.m. pick-up, followed by a 60-minute drive to Teotitlán del Valle, where a local guide leads the way. Along the route, we pause to pay our respects by leaving an offering to El Picacho, honoring local tradition. After the hike, we return to town to enjoy a traditional Oaxacan almuerzo, then head back to the hotel, arriving around 2:00 p.m.
