Into the Sierra Norte: A 3-Day Mountain Challenge
This immersive multi-day trek invites you to walk through the Sierra Norte in partnership with its people. Daily hikes of 6–10 km follow ancestral paths across rugged terrain, panoramic lookouts, and forests of pine and diverse oak species. The experience is led by local community guides, honoring the traditions, knowledge, and sovereignty of the Sierra Norte towns, with overnight stays and meals prepared locally.
Brief Itinerary
Day 1
Depart from Oaxaca City and travel into the Sierra Norte. Arrive in Cuajimoloyas for a traditional community breakfast, settle into your cabin, and prepare for the hike. Walk forest trails guided by local knowledge, reaching scenic viewpoints before returning to town for a homemade dinner. Rest overnight within the community.
Day 2
After breakfast, pack up and hike toward Rancho Benito Juárez along historic mountain routes. Enjoy lunch and visit a breathtaking lookout. Optional activities such as a suspension bridge and zip line are managed by the community. Spend the night in the town of Benito Juárez, hosted by local families.
Day 3
Fuel up in the morning for the final trek to La Nevería, following trails that connect Sierra Norte communities. After lunch, gather for a tour recap and reflections before saying hasta pronto to the Sierra Norte and its people.
